How Safe is Your Vehicle?

You depend on your car more than you depend on anything else. From the earliest of mornings, to the latest of nights; in the freezing cold, in the blistering heat, and from here to there to everywhere. Sure you get it washed every now and then (or let the rain do it for you) and clean out the crumbs and garbage in the back seat, but are you really keeping your vehicle healthy? You get regular doctor check-ups to be sure your health is satisfactory, so why wouldn't you treat your car to the same luxury? It is very easy to take advantage of your vehicle and neglect it's needs. Think about this, everytime you drive in a vehicle you are putting your life at risk. If your car is not prepared to handle dangerous situations (sudden braking, slippery roads, etc.) then you put yourself and others at an even higher risk. Be proactive and prevent seriously injuring yourself and others.

At Auto House of Clovis, every vehicle that comes in for a scheduled service undergoes a routine 25 point safety inspection to ensure that your vehicle is not only performing to it's true potential, but that it is also safe for you to operate. If we see any red flags, we will alert you immediately of the circumstance.

Splash Dogs

This past Saturday, Darryl and our eldest yellow lab, Fred competed in Splash Dogs at the Fresno Home and Garden Show (March 2-4) Splash Dogs is a competition to test the distance the dogs can jump from a ramp into a large pool. It is a large event that travels throughout the States and claims great champions. It is open to all breeds and all ages. At the end of the day, everyone is there to have fun, but the dogs and handlers are serious about the competition. The "top dogs" have trained very hard to earn the agility and distance to become top jumpers. The current record for a labrador retriever is 26.05 feet and the record for the most distance stands firm at 27.08 feet!

This was Fred's first competition and we were nervous he wasn't going to adapt to the ramp well. Within 10 minutes, he was flying off of it like a champ! After a few practice runs in front of an audience, Fred was ready to go. He was first on the ticket. Him and Darryl set up on the dock, and off like a bullet Fred leaped for the pool. You are allowed two competition jumps and one practice. Fred earned a 13' and a 13.03', well beyond what is expected for a first-timer! He took 1st of the group that day, and 3rd out of the whole competition!

We spoke with Scott Trowbridge and his dog Pepper, who competed in the Pre/Extreme division and ended with 2nd place! His black labrador jumped an impressive 21.08 feet in the competition! He told us some stories and shared some tips of the trade. This is him and Pepper!

21st Annual Crab Feed

This last Saturday (February 25th, 2012) was the Clovis Rotary Crab Feed. Our Chief Financial Officer and co-owner, Jamie Lowitz, has been chairwoman of this event for the  past 3 years. An event as large as this requires several months prior of careful planning, organizing, and deliberating among other Rotarians. On the morning of the event, every member of the Lowitz family is down at the Clovis Memorial Building setting up tables, organizing Silent Auction items, and making sure everything is in place for the event. During the evening, Jamie and her daughter Cortney can be seen with walking hastily among the crowd, fixing predicaments, and making sure the event runs smoothly. The Auto House of Clovis' table is filled with customers and of course, Darryl. After a long night, the Lowitz family is still there to clean and pick up what the happy guests left behind. All-in-all, it is truly an all day affair.
